RE: Formal request to the University to strip Jared Israel off his professional and academic credentials, his scholar statusand to publicly condemn his denial of genocide in Srebrenica
13th April 2019
Dear President Bacow,
We, the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, of different professional and ethnic backgrounds, and different viewpoints, but all united in the collective goal to reinstate the Constitution of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and deeply dedicated and devoted to the love of truth and justice, are horrified at the conduct of your alumni Jared Isreal which has been ongoing for the past several years. Mainly, his primary involvement and support of war crimes and war criminals committed during the aggression on our homeland – The Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The last straw in his far too many disgraceful and dishonourable acts was his recent statement made to the apartheid fascist regime's papers ‘Glas Srpske’ from Banja Luka where he made a statement in which he denies thegenocide in Srebrenica, on which resolutions and verdicts were made by two of the highest international courts.
We are not interested in the motives of his involvement with those who had committed genocide in Srebrenica, and numerous other war crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the fact that he was , at the time, a member of the ‘International Committee for Defending of the indicted war criminal, Slobodan Milosevic’. We find such disgraceful and dishonourable engagement on Mr Jared Israel's part to be causing an unprecedented damage and harm to your University, and its reputation. Mr Jared Israel's disgraceful claims and statements are sending very bad messages to the public, and in particular to the young people in the USA, given that he does not accept the verdicts of the highest international courts, and makes false claims on individuals and events that were taking place in former Yugoslavia, during the 90's.
In other words, he took the right to twist the historical facts which is unacceptable for anyone, and in particular anintellectual, writer, and a Harvard graduate.
Based on all of the above, we would request that you strip Jared Israel off his professional and academic credentials, and his scholar status gained at your University in order to protect the dignity of your prestigious educational institution, and the principles which should be used to nurture the education of its future graduates, first of all scientific, and only scientific approach to each event in practice, irrespective of where it took place, and not in any other way, and particularly not the political one.
If stripping him off his academic and professional credentials is not legally possible, then we would like to ask you to distance and disassociate your University from the disgraceful and dishonourable actions and statements made by Jared Israel, and to condemn him publicly for those.
If you do that, any of his future disgraceful and dishonourableacts in public, in the way he has been doing it so far, will be seen and considered as only his own. If, however, you are to ignore this appeal, those dishonourable and disgraceful actions of his will also be that of your institution's.
Yours Sincerely,
